  • LPDstudios Blog: Style - Hand Sewn Olive Green Armadillo Envelope Clutch

Even though Summer isn't officially over yet.... I can feel things starting to shift. The nights are getting a little cooler, the kids are getting ready to go back to school, and I'm gravitating toward a more earthy palette in my studio. I'm setting aside the bright leathers I've gathered over the past couple of summer months and starting to look for leather hides in green, gold and orange.

I found this really nice olive green "pull up" leather that I just had to buy. Pull up leather is really unique because the leather is colored with aniline dyes that have been blended with natural based oils and waxes instead of the typical painted pigments. The oils and waxes tend to darken the original aniline dye coloration, while also pulling up the lighter colors when stretched and pulled. So this particular olive green leather has a lot of definition and dimension to the hide.

Once I bought this batch of olive green leather, I decided to make a Hand Sewn Olive Green Armadillo Envelope Clutch. I applied an armadillo cut out to give the clutch a conversational focal point, and added my signature pinked edges and contrast stitching.

For today's style board I paired the whimsical little armadillo clutch with a linen jumpsuit in a beautiful shade of sienna orange, and comfortable chocolate suede slip ons. Even though the palette of this outfit is saying fall, I still want sleeveless tops and sandals for as long as possible.

  • LPDstudios Blog: What's New - Horizon of Hope Breast Cancer Fundraiser

Horizon of Hope Hershey is a local organization whose mission is to "educate people on the importance of early detection by bringing attention and awareness to self-breast exams, mammograms, and the benefits of exercise and diet for a healthier body to ward off cancer."

Each year, the Horizon of Hope committee organizes a breakfast fundraiser held at the Hershey Hotel, which is happening this Saturday morning 8/19. All proceeds of the event are donated to local organizations like the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, American Cancer Society Patient Services, and the MS Hershey Breast Center's Karen Dwyer-Jones Fund. The HOH invites special guest speakers, including breast cancer survivors and reps from the ACA. Along with the inspirational speakers, they have door prizes, artist vendors, lots of raffles and a canned food drive for our local food pantry.

I am excited to be able to give to the cause this year! LPDstudios has donated the Pearled Navy Blue Handsewn Leather Night Out Tote with Star to be raffled off at the event!

LPDstudios - Pearled Navy Blue Handsewn Leather Night Out Tote with Star - LPDstudios was created by designer artist Lisa Parmer Ditty. All of her designs are handcrafted in her Pennsylvania studio. LPDstudios will also have a vendor table at the event with several new designs. The new pieces were designed specifically for the attendees of this event, which are predominantly women who are breast cancer survivors and people who are close to someone who has survived.

  • LPDstudios Blog: Behind the Scenes - Pet Collection Brass Dog Tags with Custom Pet Love Name

I love our furry companions so much, I couldn't help but make a collection just for them! Back in February, I introduced Mally, my favorite four legged friend, modeling some of the LPDstudios Pet Collection pieces on the blog

Now I'd like to give you a closer look into how I make my custom dog tags for each one of my customers.

I recently received an order for a Custom Brass Dog Tag from a couple who adopted a shelter dog in NH. They named her "Lucy" and wanted to give her a special "forever home" gift. Watch the video to see how I made Lucy's personalized gift:

And here is Lucy! My clients sent me this adorable picture, and I just had to share. She looks so happy in her new doggie name tag!

  • LPDstudios Blog: Style - Persimmon Leather Handbag with Floral Motif

Color me happy! Today's style board features a palette for those who want color from head to toe.

Starting with the shoes, these funky, yet really comfortable looking, wedges are from Anthropologie. They are a beautiful shade of sunshine yellow that looks so nice with the natural raffia wrapped sole.

The Persimmon Leather Handbag with Floral Motif is an LPDstudios original made of 100% Italian leather. The handbag has a modern square shape with pinked edges and a stag horn closure. The vibrant orange color of the leather gives this classic handbag a spunky twist.

"Tying" everything together is this beautiful brushstroke print, tie-waist dress. I love the modern, geometric print and the colorful palette it's in. It brings the persimmon orange of the handbag and sunshine yellow of the suede shoes to life!

  • LPDstudios Blog: What's New - Lipstick Pink Porcupine Handbag

I don't know what it is, but I really like to dive into producing work in batches. I will create new designs and produce earrings for a while, then I might move onto pet gifts or other accessories. Right now I am finding so many inspiring leather and nubuck hides, I am on a roll making handbags!

My newest piece is the Lipstick Pink Nubuck Leather Purse with Porcupines. It's made of nubuck leather, which is a top grain cattle leather that has been sanded or buffed to give the leather a slight nap and texture to the surface. I love the way the velvety appearance of the nubuck works with the vibrant, lipstick pink color of the dyed hide.

LPDstudios - Lipstick Pink Nubuck Leather Purse with Porcupines - LPDstudios was created by designer artist Lisa Parmer Ditty. All of her designs are handcrafted in her Pennsylvania studio. She has merged her love of leather, metal and metal clay to create a unique collection of custom leather handbags, metal and leather jewelry and even pet collars. But don't be fooled, not everything pink is sugary sweet. My hand appliqued porcupine characters pack a punch of prickly attitude.

With signature details like the pinked edges, stag horn closure, inner pockets, and contrast stitching, this handbag is a unique blend of function and distinct design. Perfect for someone who wants to make a colorful statement.
